Topic of the Day
J. Cole has embraced a nostalgic throwback to the blogging era by unveiling his very own blog, reminiscent of a similar venture by one of his Hip Hop idols, Kanye West. Additionally, J. Cole isn’t the first rapper to venture into the world of blogging. Kanye West operated KanyeUniversecity.com until 2010, where he expressed his views on a wide range of topics, including fashion and video games, while also sharing behind-the-scenes photos and links to his favorite music.
Cole’s debut ✨
In a significant move, just hours before he marked his 40th birthday, the Dreamville artist launched his blogging journey on Monday, January 27, under the title “The Algorithm“. This new platform can be accessed on his Inevitable website, inviting fans to engage with his thoughts and reflections. In his inaugural blog entry, J. Cole expressed his excitement by stating,
“This is a personal space for me to share my thoughts. I’ve wanted to start a little blog for years—somewhere to post random things I enjoy, where the audience is much smaller than what I find on social media.
I finally decided to go for it, so please bear with us as we’re still fine-tuning the design and layout of the page.” He also included a link to L.A. rapper Ahmad’s nostalgic 1994 song “Back in the Day,” adding:
“Much respect to AHMAD. I played this track last night and thought, ‘Wow! This will be my first blog post.'”
He shared, “I’ve been hooked on this song since I was around 9, back when I was on Lewis Street, begging my mom for a GT Performer bike. Now, as midnight approaches, I’m about to turn 40. I’ll probably save the deeper thoughts for a post tomorrow. But to sum it up, I’m filled with gratitude. Wishing you all a happy New Year and God bless. 2025 is going to be a great year.”
