‘Shrek 5’ Teaser Trailer Officially Arrives

An exclusive trailer for Dreamwork’s Shrek 5 has officially arrived.

Shrek 5, set to premiere in theaters on December 25, 2026, marks the first installment in the Shrek franchise since Shrek Forever After, which debuted in 2010. In the trailer, the beloved ogre, voiced by Mike Myers, and his trusty sidekick Donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy, ask the Magic Mirror who the fairest of them all is. The Mirror playfully responds, “Why, Shrek, of course,” before displaying a collection of Shrek memes. The trailer then offers a preview of Shrek’s daughter, voiced by Zendaya.

As first shown in 2007’s Shrek the Third, Shrek and his wife Fiona, voiced by Cameron Diaz, have triplets. However, it’s unknown whether their other two children will appear in Shrek 5 or who will be voicing them. Other details surrounding the plot are under wraps.

Shrek 5 is directed by Walt Dohrn (the voice of Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After) and Conrad Vernon (the voice of Gingy), with Brad Ableson joining as co-director. The production is led by Gina Shay and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

The Shrek franchise has been a box office hit, grossing over $4 billion worldwide. Shrek 2 remains the highest-grossing film at $935.3 million, while Shrek Forever After earned less at $752.6 million. The spin-off Puss in Boots movies also performed well, with The Last Wish earning $484.7 million. With Shrek 5 on the way, the series is set for a highly anticipated return.
