Amazon MGM Studios is bringing together an A-list cast for its upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, with Oscar winner Brie Larson, Emily in Paris star Lily Collins, The Boys breakout Jack Quaid, and Crazy Rich Asians leading man Henry Golding set to headline.
The film will be directed by Jason Orley, best known for helming the Pete Davidson coming-of-age hit Big Time Adolescence. Orley co-conceived the story with Isaac Aptaker (Love, Simon), who penned the script. Aptaker is also producing alongside Elizabeth Berger via their banner Walk-Up Company, with Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau producing for Maximum Effort. Orley will serve as executive producer.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, Close Personal Friends follows a couple who, while on a trip to Santa Barbara, strike up an unlikely friendship with a celebrity couple. As personal boundaries blur, comedic chaos unfolds, blending sharp humor with the kind of awkwardness only Orley can deliver. The film is set to begin production in London this September.
This project marks a reunion between Orley, Aptaker, and Berger with Amazon MGM, following their successful collaboration on the 2022 romantic comedy I Want You Back, starring Charlie Day and Jenny Slate.
The Star Power Behind The Comedy

The rising star, Jack Quaid has been busy with hits like Companion, Heads of State, and Prime Video’s The Boys, showcasing his versatility across genres.
Beloved globally for her role in Emily in Paris, Lily Collins also made waves with her recent appearance in A24 and Ti West’s horror finale Maxxine. Since his breakout in Crazy Rich Asians, Henry Golding has cemented himself as a leading man, most recently starring in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen and The Old Guard 2.
With its stellar cast, sharp comedic premise, and Orley’s proven knack for balancing heart and humor, Close Personal Friends is shaping up to be one of Amazon MGM Studios’ most anticipated comedies.
