James Sunderland’s Nightmare Returns In First ‘Return to Silent Hill’ Official Trailer

Cineverse has unveiled the official trailer for Return to Silent Hill, the latest cinematic installement of Konami’s iconic horror video game series. The psychological horror film is set to haunt theaters on January 23rd, 2026. In fact, the official synopsis teases a chilling journey:

“The film will follow James, a man broken after being separated from his one true love. When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love”.

The trailer introduces Jeremy Irvine (Great Expectations) as James Sunderland, bringing the protagonist of Silent Hill 2 to life. Audiences witness his harrowing journey into the fog-filled town, where every step threatens danger from grotesque monsters and sinister shadows.

Evie Templeton, breakout star from Wednesday, reprises her role as Laura, an orphaned girl who guides James through the nightmare. Templeton previously portrayed Laura in the Silent Hill 2 remake, handling both voice acting and motion capture, lending authenticity to her return.

French filmmaker Christophe Gans, who directed the original live-action Silent Hill (2006), returns to helm this new adaptation. Gans co-wrote the screenplay alongside Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider, while the ensemble cast includes Hannah Emily Anderson, Robert Strange, Pearse Egan, Emily Carding, and Martine Richards. Executive producers include Jonathan Bross, Paul W. Hazen, Joe Neurauter, Joe Simpson, Lorna Soonhee, Jay Taylor, and Simon Williams.
