The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is adding more big-name voice actors. Glen Powell has joined the cast as Fox McCloud, a surprise Nintendo character appearing alongside Mario and his crew. Powell shared the news in a video on Instagram on Friday.
Powell recently starred in the thriller How to Make a Killing and last year’s Running Man. Like Fox McCloud, who is a space pilot from Nintendo’s Star Fox games, Powell is familiar with flying roles after his breakout performance in Top Gun: Maverick.
Chris Pratt and Charlie Day return as Mario and Luigi as the brothers head into space in the sequel. They’re joined again by Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.

The new movie also adds Donald Glover as Yoshi, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., and Brie Larson as Rosalina.
Fox McCloud’s appearance surprised fans, though some viewers spotted him briefly in a recent trailer. He’s best known as the main hero of the Star Fox games and as one of the original fighters in Super Smash Bros., where he has appeared alongside characters like Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi.
Fox isn’t the only Super Smash Bros. character crossing over. Earlier footage also showed a cameo from the Pikmin, small plant-like creatures from the Pikmin games, as well as R.O.B., a real-life Nintendo toy accessory that later became a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros.
