Batman: Knightfall Part 2 is getting closer, and fans now know when to expect the first trailer. Although the trailer now has a confirmed release date, Batman: Knightfall Part 2 does not yet have an official 2026 release date.
A sneak peek of the sequel will officially launch on September 19, 2026, which is also Batman Day. Fans will also be able to pre-order the movie on the same day.
The upcoming film is the second chapter in an animated trilogy based on DC’s iconic Knightfall storyline. The first movie, Batman: Knightfall Part 1, debuted on platforms last month and is also available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD. The first installment has already made a strong impression with comic book fans, earning a 94% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Batman: Knightfall Part 2 will resume from the first film. In the movie, Bane defeated Bruce Wayne in a brutal confrontation, resulting in Batman’s downfall and him taking control of Gotham. With Bruce forced to recover from his injuries and unable to protect the city, someone else will step in to wear the Batman suit. Jean-Paul Valley, better known as Azrael, will take over the role of the Dark Knight while Bruce takes a hiatus. However, Bruce’s time away won’t last forever. The story will eventually lead to his return as Batman.
The movies are following the original comic book storyline, which was split into three chapters: Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. The animated adaptation will similarly unfold across three movies. The third and final installment is currently expected to arrive sometime in 2027.
“The trilogy is also embracing the darker side of the source material with an R rating, allowing the movies to deliver the same violent and intense tone found in the comics,” the synopsis reads.
Jeff Wamester is directing Batman: Knightfall Part 2, and Jeremy Adams is serving as the writer. Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau are producing, while Michael Uslan and Sam Register are executive producing.
