David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino reunite the world of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood as Brad Pitt’s unpredictable stuntman gets a new mission — and a whole new set of problems.
Hollywood has changed, but Cliff Booth hasn’t. Well… not exactly. Netflix has dropped the first full trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, bringing Brad Pitt back as one of his most memorable characters. But this time, he’s operating in a very different Los Angeles.
It’s 1977, eight years after the events of Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and Cliff is no longer spending his days doubling for Rick Dalton. He’s a fixer now. And when Hollywood needs a problem handled quietly, Cliff is apparently still the guy to call.
Cliff Booth Has A New Hustle
The laid-back stuntman has traded movie sets for bartending, projection work and jobs that require a very particular skill set. Basically, if a situation involves violence, danger or something that probably shouldn’t be handled by the police, Cliff is available.
And judging from the trailer, business is doing just fine. The new story throws him into a world of Hollywood ambition, crime, money and secrets, with Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II among the cast. Because apparently, Cliff couldn’t just get a normal job.
Fincher Meets Tarantino
One of the biggest reasons this sequel-of-sorts has our attention is the creative combination behind it. David Fincher directs from a new screenplay by Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino created Cliff. Fincher now gets to put his own visual stamp on the character’s next chapter. And you can already feel the difference.
The warm, nostalgic Hollywood of 1969 has given way to darker streets, crime, violence and an atmosphere that feels much more at home in Fincher territory. But Cliff? Still Cliff. That balance could be the movie’s secret weapon.
This Time, Cliff Is the Main Event
Brad Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Now he’s back! Except this time, the story isn’t about Rick Dalton. It’s about Cliff.
That gives the character room to finally exist outside of somebody else’s story. His mysterious past, dry humor and ability to go from casually charming to seriously dangerous have always been part of the appeal. Now Hollywood gets to see what happens when all of that is put front and center.
A Different Hollywood. Same Problems.
The year may be 1977, but some things never change. Hollywood is still full of people chasing fame, protecting secrets and creating problems that money can’t always solve. That’s where Cliff comes in. He’s not the industry’s cleanest solution. He’s just the one who knows how to get things handled.
And with Tarantino writing, Fincher directing and Pitt stepping back into the role, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth isn’t simply trying to recreate the magic of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. It’s taking the character somewhere new.
Cliff Booth Is Coming Back To The Big Screen
Netflix will give the film an exclusive two-week global IMAX theatrical run beginning November 25th, 2026, before it arrives on Netflix on December 23rd. For a movie centered around Hollywood, crime, spectacle and Brad Pitt doing what Brad Pitt does best, the big-screen treatment feels appropriate.
The trailer gives us enough to know Cliff has traded in his old job for a new hustle, but not enough to reveal exactly how deep this latest mess goes. And honestly? That’s probably the point. Cliff Booth may no longer be Rick Dalton’s stunt double, but Hollywood still needs somebody who can clean up when everything goes sideways.
