The box office hit with Venom on the showtimes last October. The movie ended with a credit scene that raised suspense and hinted towards what’s to come in the part 2.
Earlier reports confirm cinematographer Robert Richardson will be teaming with Andy Serkis again (1st collaboration: Breathe) to direct this coming project.
The current news regarding Harrelson reprising his role for the coming Venom came right from 1st hand source Robert Richardson. When Richardson was asked about the project he spoke fluidly, giving plenty deets. He mentioned the actor who appeared in the end credits of Venom is returning for the sequel. Here’s what Richardson had to say about the film and actor “making his own little entrance”
I was looking forward to entering into that arena with Batman years ago with Ben [Affleck]. I thought, ‘Well this is something I haven’t done that I would love to try to do.’ And then Andy Serkis, who I worked with on Breathe, gave me a call a month ago and said that he was up for this and would I be willing. I’d seen the film. I watched it again, then they sent me a script and I felt like, yeah, I would say yes anyway to Andy just because I would say yes to Andy, but I also think it’s a great… I think it’s unexplored yet, and it’s going to explode, and this film, I think, will help it explode, because you have a remarkable central character with Venom, but now you’ve got Woody Harrelson, who’s going to obviously make his own little entrance here, and we’ll see what else comes in with the Sony Marvel collaboration. I look forward to it. It’s a massive change for me, but I’m excited. I think Hardy is one of our best. He never misses. I so look forward to sitting with him and
watching him perform.
The idea is Harrilson being a feature in Venom 2 was planted in viewers minds a while ago after he was seen in the end credits scene. In the scene Harrilson appeared as the villainous character Cletus Kasady the serial-killer of this thriller. Cletus was behind bars asking Venoms investigative journalist to interview him.
It’s was made clear the Venom sequel was to be continued. Tom Hardy is also reprising his lead role in the coming installment as producer Amy Pascal confessed,
“I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can,”
