Adam Sandler has been getting plenty of awards buzz for his performance in the upcoming “Uncut Gems”, and after losing to Marriage Story‘s Adam Driver at the Gotham Awards, the actor chatted with Howard Stern and joked that he’ll resort to making bad movies “on purpose” if he doesn’t get an Oscar.
“If I don’t get it, I’m going to f*cking come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay,” he joked. “That’s how I get them.”
Howard then joked, “Are you listening, members of the Academy? If the Sandman doesn’t get his Oscar, we could be getting a “Jack and Jill” sequel. Choose wisely.”
Sandler also talked to Stern about the amount of press he’s done recently, including a big New York Times profile, to help promote the movie. “I did [press] like an asshole,” he said. “The Safdie Brothers and everybody worked so hard on the movie that I didn’t want to do what I usually do and just go, ‘Eh, I can’t help you out there.’”
Uncut Gems hits theaters in a limited release on Dec. 13 and goes into wide release on Dec. 25. You can check out a clip of Sandler’s conversation with Howard Stern below.
