Not too long ago, Jasmyn, a member of Netflix’s Strong Black Lead’s editorial team, hopped on Twitter and penned, “Can we all watch Beyonce’s Homecoming as a group sometime this week and relive that again???” After receiving positive feedback from many across the globe, she added a time and a date for the Netflix watch party. “Alright, let’s do this thing! How’s Wednesday at 6 PM PST (9 EST)??? We can use the hashtag #HOMEcoming,” she tweeted.
Eventually, Jasmyn’s tweet spread like wildfire and caught the attention of the songstress, who retweeted the original tweet. In turn, Jasmyn fangirled HARD, “I AM ON THE FLOOR!!!!! BEYONCE RTED ME!!! WHAT THE HELLLLLL!!!! I AM DYIIIIIINNNGG SEND HELP!!!!! I AM CRYIIIIIIIIIIIIING,” she wrote before adding that this was a rare thing. According to her, Beyoncé doesn’t hop on Twitter that much or retweet fans.
Jasmyn’s tweet became the #1 global trend on Twitter in just 45 minutes of the watch party. Over 500K tweets came in about a Homecoming watch party within 24 hours.
