The next chapter of Paramount’s hit horror saga is in the works!
Silence is once again taking over the big screen. Production has officially begun on A Quiet Place Part III, the long-awaited continuation of Paramount’s acclaimed sci-fi horror franchise, with franchise creator John Krasinski returning as writer, director, and producer.
Set for theatrical release on July 30th, 2027, the upcoming film will serve as the true continuation and conclusion of the original trilogy established by A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. While 2024’s A Quiet Place: Day One expanded the universe through a gripping prequel story directed by Michael Sarnoski, it was never intended to replace the long-anticipated third chapter of the Abbott family saga.
Now, nearly a decade after the original film redefined modern horror, the franchise is finally moving toward its next major evolution.
John Krasinski Returns To The World He Built
Krasinski officially confirmed the start of production through social media, posting an image of the film slate positioned in front of the iconic Manhattan Bridge Arch and Colonnade in New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood.

“Here. We. Go! #Part III,” Krasinski captioned the post, immediately igniting excitement across the horror community.
Filming is currently taking place throughout New York, continuing the franchise’s growing connection to urban survival environments introduced in Day One. The shift from isolated farmland terror to large-scale city landscapes hints that Part III may expand the franchise’s scope in ways audiences have yet to experience.
The Abbott Family Reunites
One of the biggest draws of A Quiet Place Part III is the return of the franchise’s core cast. Emily Blunt is officially returning to her role as Evelyn Abbott, alongside returning cast members Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott and Noah Jupe as Marcus Abbott.
Cillian Murphy will also return as Emmett following his critically praised debut in Part II, where his emotionally layered performance added a darker, more survivalist dimension to the franchise.
The new installment additionally introduces an intriguing lineup of newcomers, including Jack O’Connell, Jason Clarke, and Katy O’Brian. This cast expansion shows the story may continue broadening beyond the Abbott family’s immediate perspective.
Though Krasinski’s character Lee Abbott sacrificed himself in the original film, fans know the filmmaker has remained creatively intertwined with the franchise, even appearing in emotional flashback sequences throughout Part II.
The Questions That Sparked The Trilogy’s Future
Interestingly, Krasinski has revealed that seeds for Part III were planted years ago while writing the second film. Reflecting on the franchise’s evolution, Krasinski previously explained that one lingering image from the original movie continued to stay with him: the distant fires seen burning on the horizon.
For him, those fires represented unanswered questions—who survived, what other communities existed, and how humanity was adapting to life under constant threat from the sound-hunting creatures.
Those unanswered mysteries ultimately became the creative fuel behind Part II, and now appear set to shape the trilogy’s final chapter. It’s a storytelling approach that has become central to A Quiet Place: intimate human emotion wrapped inside a much larger apocalyptic mystery.
A Franchise That Reinvented Modern Horror
Since debuting in 2018, A Quiet Place has become one of modern horror’s most influential franchises, praised for its innovative use of silence, emotional storytelling, and nerve-shredding suspense.
Produced by Platinum Dunes alongside Krasinski and Sunday Night Productions, the films transformed a minimalist concept into a global box office phenomenon.
More importantly, the franchise proved that blockbuster horror could balance spectacle with deeply personal storytelling. Themes of family, sacrifice, survival, and communication have remained just as central as the terrifying alien creatures themselves.
Expanding The Universe While Preserving Its Heart
The success of A Quiet Place: Day One demonstrated that the franchise can thrive beyond the Abbott family, introducing new perspectives while preserving the tension and emotional weight fans expect.
Now, with Part III officially in production, audiences are eager to see how Krasinski plans to conclude the story that began with one family trying to survive in silence.
Whether the third installment serves as a definitive ending or opens the door for even more stories within the universe, one thing is already clear: A Quiet Place remains one of horror’s most compelling modern franchises.
