‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’ Trailer Previews Coming-Of-Age Dramedy

Judy Blume’s book, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is being transformed into a film. The first trailer for it dropped yesterday, as per Liongate.

Carrying the same name as the beloved teen book, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret stars Abby Ryder Fortson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Benny Safdie. It also stars Elle Graham, Amari Price, Katherine Kupferer, Isol Young, Zackary Brooks, Simms May, JeCobi Swain, Echo Kellum, Landon Baxter, Kate MacCluggage, and Aidan Wojtak-Hissong.

The synopsis states:

In Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation, 11-year-old Margaret is uprooted from her life in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends in a new school.

She relies on her mother, Barbara, who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and her adoring grandmother, Sylvia, who isn’t happy they moved away and likes to remind them every chance she gets.

The movie is written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig from The Edge of Seventeen.
