Bradley Cooper is set to star in the new G.I. Joe movie. According to Gizmodo, he will play Duke, the leader of the G.I. Joe team.
Helmed by Paramount Pictures, the movie is directed by Danny McBride. From the very start, he wanted Cooper for the role, but he wasn’t sure Cooper would be available because Cooper is also working on an Ocean’s Eleven prequel with Margot Robbie.
Cooper’s mind was made up after reading the G.I. Joe script. After giving it a glance, he decided he wanted to be part of the movie. As a result, it manifested a role for The Hangover actor.

McBride originally wanted to make a movie about the a smaller group of villains from G.I. Joe called Dreadnoks. However, Paramount thought that idea was too on-brand, so they asked him to make a more impactful G.I. Joe plot line. He also suggested a story about a town controlled by Cobra, the main enemy of G.I. Joe. But we don’t know if that is still the story of the new movie.
Paramount says the movie will be a “new version of the G.I. Joe franchise,” but they are keeping the story details under wraps.
In other news, the G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover film is no longer being developed.
