Disney’s latest announcement is out of this world… literally! Disney has announced the development of a “Space Mountain” live-action film. As one of Disney’s original and most beloved rides that has serves generations of families for decades, this project is especially exciting for longtime Disney lovers. Created in 1975, the indoor rollercoaster set in outer space provides a unique experience for guests as they experience the ‘forces’ of space.
This is not the first live-action Disney project to be based on the theme parks’ rides. The most famous adaption to date is the Pirates of the Caribbean franchised developed based off of the 1967 “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride that is still in operation today. Other rides such as “Jungle Cruise”, which is set to release on July 30, 2021 due to coronavirus delays, and “The Haunted Mansion”, whose second film adaptation was just announced in August, are already underway!
With so many new projects to come that hold a great value of nostalgia, the pressure is on for Disney to provide storylines that align with the premises surrounding the rides.
