Scoop of the Day
Drake has been putting on a show for his city, earning the title of the “owl” of his hometown. Many people are increasingly paying attention to his music and artistry. His talent has already made a significant impact on other artists and set the tone for his career. He has collaborated with notable musicians like Nicki Minaj, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Latto.
This week, Drake showed his support by performing with Latto at her concert in Toronto on November 7th. His presence added to the appeal for both Latto and her audience, making the concert even more entertaining.
Drake’s Appearance
When Drake appeared at the concert, he not only showed his support by being there but also performed alongside Latto during their collaboration, “Housekeeping Knows.” Their performance together was both nostalgic and entertaining. As the night came to a close, both artists put on a great show for the audience. Latto also took a moment to acknowledge Drake, known as The 6 God, and Kendrick Lamar, praising them for their contributions to the hip-hop industry and highlighting the competitive spirit they bring to it.
Notably, on her latest album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, fans have eagerly described it as “Drake-coded,” suggesting that Latto has embraced a style reminiscent of Drake’s. Many are even calling her the “first lady of OVO,” despite her not being officially signed to the Toronto-based label.
Latto has openly embraced comparisons to Drake. When a Twitter user mentioned her as a product of the 6 God’s influence, she responded affirmatively, tweeting, “Drake the GOAT”. This endorsement has certainly worked in her favor, as her song “Housekeeping Knows” reached the Hot 100, marking Latto’s tenth single to chart.
Additionally, Drake’s appearance to perform and support her speaks volumes, as he typically only does so for long-time collaborators. Fans are hopeful for more collaborations between Drizzy and Latto in the future.
