Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three has broken an IMAX ticket sales record that was previously held by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
The BFI IMAX, Britain’s largest theater, sold more than 33,000 advance tickets for Dune: Part Three in under 24 hours. Ticket sales brought in over $988,000, beating The Odyssey’s previous record of around $841,000.
According to Deadline, Dune: Part Three now holds the record for the most advance ticket sales on its first day at BFI IMAX. Last year, The Odyssey sold out three opening-weekend screenings in less than an hour.

Earlier this month, the theater also sold out two preview screenings of Dune: Part Three. The Odyssey had previously sold out screenings months before its release and later extended its IMAX 70mm run after becoming the highest-grossing IMAX release of all time.
Other movies among BFI IMAX’s top five for first-day advance ticket sales include Dune: Part Two, Oppenheimer, and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The theater will also show the first two Dune movies in December before the third film arrives. Dune: Part Two earned more than $490,000 in advance ticket sales, putting it in third place.

The third Dune movie will be different from the previous ones. It takes place 17 years after Dune: Part Two and follows a new conflict threatening Paul Atreides’ rule over Arrakis.
Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Rebecca Ferguson will be reprising their respective roles. Jason Momoa will also return to the franchise, while Robert Pattinson joins the cast as a villain.
