The reboot of Lethal Weapon came and entertained. But after three seasons, the show came to an end in the 2018-19 TV season. One of the cast members found a new home on another Fox show in its final season. Empire will welcome Keshia Sharp as a returning character on the farewell season of the show.
Sharp, played Trish Murtaugh on all three seasons of Lethal Weapon, will recur throughout the sixth season of Empire when it returns to Fox in September. She’ll play a woman by the name of Paula Wick, who is a doctor described by Deadline as “smart” and “inciteful” known for offering “endless compassion.” Despite all of her compassion, however, she “doesn’t take s**t” from anybody.
At this point, we don´t know what kind of doctor she will be playing. But given Andre´s lingering health issues and Terri´s pregnancy. She may have used one of her contacts, given that she´s a nurse to lessen the responsibilities that occur when she is taking care of Andre.
It is possible that she is some type of psychiatrist. Given that last season, Cookie went through a lot of internal battles and even made a huge decision in not going on the run with Lucious and her fling Damon Cross. It would be definitely understandable if she got counseling. Or it might be possible that she (Sharp) is counseling Lucious. With all the trauma that he has gone through, remember that Kingsley committed suicide, Andre almost committing suicide. It more makes sense that Lucious would talk to someone, especially given the growth he has shown as the series progresses. It would be interesting to see if she was brought in to lighten the hole that Jussie Smollett left when he was cut from the series in light of his scandal.
Empire won´t be back until this fall, but you can see the talented Keesha Sharp by rewatching (or watching!) the three seasons of Lethal Weapon streaming on Hulu now.
