Ghost Busters returns Summer 2020 and the director promises “This is going to be a love letter to Ghostbusters” Fans are waiting with anticipation and very high expections or… no expectations at all from the previously dissapointed. Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman- original director of the 1984 Ghost Buster film, isn’t backing down.
After all the mixy feedback from the 2016 Ghostbusters decision to present the audience with an all-female replacement cast and a whole new plot, in a whole different universe, fans are really expecting a comeback. Angry fans are going as far as joking that ‘Ghost Busters 3 – The Apology‘ would be the most fitting title for the upcoming film.
Jason Reitman assures us,
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman says. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Great, you’re hired! I mean, who else ya gonna call? Jason Reitman is most known for his breakout hit Juno that made it to the Grammy nominations. He also played a part in the Ghost Busters 1984 sequal as a doubting birthday boy, saying “My dad says You guys are full of crap.” reffering to the Ghost Busters team. Isn’t that Ironic..and kinda cute? Jason says he idolizes the whole Ghost Buster project reminiscing about being on set with his father during the process of creation.
“I love everything about it. The iconography. The music. The tone,” Reitman told Entertainment Weekly.
And he proved it with the 50 second teaser trailer using the original vinyl lettering created for the original Ghostbusters poster, the original ghostbusters car, and the sound effects that come from the original movie’s sound files.
Theres been chat claiming the original cast will be back! Sigourney Weaver mentioned being excited to work with the “guys” again, Paul Rudd as a new member, McKenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Fin Wolfhard, Dan Aykroyd and RUMORED Bill Murray and Annie Potts. Nothing has been confirmed just yet. Not from Sony Pictures or Reitman. Reitman says it’s too early to reveal the plot of the sequel, or the new characters, or whether not some of the original cast members are returning.
“This is very early, and I want the film to unwrap like a present. We have a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet,” says Reitman.
