Fourth Matrix Movie is Finally on the Way, Official Trailer is Released

The highly-anticipated trailer for the fourth Matrix movie was released today. It’s been eighteen years since Keanu Reeves graced theater screens as Neo in the last Matrix movie, The Matrix Reloaded. It’s been reported that the film has been in development since 2017. The upcoming title, The Matrix: Resurrections, will be released in time for Christmas hitting theaters and HBO Max on December 22. Bringing back familiar actors like Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith and a few newcomers like, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Christina Ricci.

The film is written and directed by Lana Wachowski, who co-directed and co-wrote the first three Matrix films, with her sister Lilly Wachowski. However, the synopsis for the upcoming film has not been revealed. Reeves spoke about the forthcoming film, making sure not to provide too many details, describing the film as “a beautiful script that is a love story, it’s inspiring. It’s another version of a kind of call to wake up, and it has some great action.” Great action is on full display in the trailer, released today, clocking in a little under three mins. The trailer displayed many scenes that will hold true to be familiar with long-time fans of the Matrix.

The trailer comes only two days after an interactive fan website was launched, providing over 180,000 video teaser variations of the upcoming title. Fans were amazed by the different video teasers on WhatIsTheMatrix.com, stating that fans could choose from a red or blue pill to display additional footage from the upcoming film. Furthermore, fans noted that the narrative and footage would change depending on which pill was chosen and based on the time of day.
