Penning lyrics about street culture, former experiences, his daily grind, living it up, and staying on his P’s and Q’s, HunchoFR has birthed a sound that’s authentic and relatable to the masses. Identifying his musical styling as young trap soul, the musician strives to captivate the heart of his peers. Sonically, he blends lively trap elements with R&B and hip-hop.
HunchoFR has been rapping since he was a child. Fast forward, and as a young adult, he started to take rap more seriously.
The Alabama-based artist is currently prepping for the release of his tape FR, which drops in July. To start FR’s process, HunchoFR flipped through some beats. But he gives most of the cred to his team. The album’s message is to get up and do what you want to do in life no matter, regardless of other’s opinions. FR is his first album under a label titled Soul 1st Records. The album’s name resembles how dedicated they are to creating influential music.
He adds, “[They were] buying beats, exclusive rights agreements, handling the publishing, mastering tracks, press runs, EPKs, booking shows, registering with a PRO, promo, and distribution.”
One single off FR that’s doing numbers is called “Control It.” This song was initially written and recorded with six other songs on the same day for his previous album titled Rare.
“Control It” is a fan fave due to its infectious hook. It also has a TikTok dance, and its even scored air time on Power 105.1. At first, the song was a freestyle, but then HunchoFR and his team decided to make an extended album version and put it on the new project.
A month prior, they were looking for a producer to make the beat. Fast forward, and they didn’t hear from the beatmaker who agreed to give them rights for the instrumental. Then, they asked Marc B to recreate the beat for them. After he agrees and puts each component together, it comes out sounding better than the original. Following this, HunchoFR and his team called on their in-house engineer Stino Guapo to mix it and extend the song. Now, “Control It” is garnering the attention of others worldwide. Nyla Symone also co-signs this song. She has put it on her Heart Of The Culture Playlist via Audio Mack.
“Control It” is a bassy trap offering that finds HunchoFR expressing a dire need to succeed. He also leaves a line of warning bars for the opps. The emerging star details his uniqueness in a bouncy cadence, saying he’s too rare and real. There’s no cap in his rap.
He spits, “Bitch I’m too real/I can get on that stand and tell nothing but lies, and I still be the truest.”
Afterward, he vocalizes that he and his day ones aren’t afraid to put someone in their place if necessary. He’s got onsite protection for anyone who talks sideways.
Deeper into the song, we discover that he’s about his business. He also treats his Mrs like royalty. Still, his main plan is to get to the bag.
“B*tch wanna f*ck but she mad that she can’t/Too much money can’t fit in the safe.“
Subsequently, HunchoFR details what he does to those who’ve done him dirty, saying
“Off with his head /Quickest way to kill a snake.”
He even calls someone’s bluff
“Say you a killer but that gun on your hip a lil’ dusty cuz you never used it.”
One line pays tribute to late basketball icon Kobe Bryant.
In the end, HunchoFR concludes that he’s going to keep his eye on the prize. He’s only just begun taking over the hip-hop scene.
The lyric video, edited by OneShotSpig, dropped on Friday.
Stay tuned. HunchoFR has merch on the way. He’s also taking the stage at Morehead Tavern (Charlotte, North Carolina) on June 15th.
