Jeremy Renner may be preparing to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye. Fans believe his comeback is inevitable due to the picture he posted on Instagram recently. In the post, the actor shared a close-up photo of Hawkeye’s famous costume. Renner has not appeared as Clint Barton since the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Although the post doesn’t officially confirm that Clint will appear in an upcoming Marvel project, it certainly seems like a teaser. The timing is especially interesting because Renner has recently talked about the possibility of returning for a second season of Hawkeye.
During a 2025 appearance on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, the actor said, “We got to where we’re trying to do the second season. And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.
“…For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York. There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas is kind of bleak.”
There is also a chance that Hawkeye could appear in one of Marvel’s upcoming Avengers movies: Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Marvel has not confirmed anything yet.
Renner first appeared as Hawkeye in 2011’s Thor. He became one of the MCU’s main heroes the following year in The Avengers.

Since then, he has returned as Clint Barton in several Marvel movies, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. He also made an uncredited voice appearance in Black Widow and voiced alternate versions of Clint in the animated series What If…?
