Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming movie, Fatherhood staring Kevin Hart. The film will be available on Netflix just in time for Father’s Day weekend, dropping on June 18. Netflix describes the film as a, “Heart felt, emotional, feel-good,” film. The film is inspired by the true story of Matthew Logelin’s 2011 memoir, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love. The Amazon description depicts the memoir as the story of Matt Logelin,
Who writes a courageous and searingly honest memoir about the first year of his life following the birth of his daughter and the death of his wife. Though confronted with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt did not surrender to devastation; he chose to keep moving forward-to make a life for Maddy.
Hart plays the lead role as Matthew. In an interview with ET’s Kevin Frazier, Hart said, “I’m basically a guy living life to the fullest in bliss, and my wife dies after delivering a baby. I’m left with the decision of raising my child while going through the darkest depression that I’ve ever been through in my life.”
In the trailer, which was released yesterday, you will see a combination of comedy mixed with tear-jerking scenes of Hart trying to take on fatherhood alone. Parenthood is hard enough and this trailer seems to accurately depict the struggles associated with raising a child, even depicting criticism. In the trailer, Hart pushed through all adversity even stating, “You’re right, I can’t do it, but you know what? I’m going to do it because I’m her father,” when told, “You think you can do this, but you can’t.”
This movie is definitely unique and seems like a great kick off to celebrate fathers everywhere. Make sure to check out Fatherhood with your dad on June 18, until then be sure to check out the trailer!
