Over the past couple of years, Lakeith Stanfield has owned his acting roles. First, Stanfield made an impact with a lead performance in Childish Gambino‘s tv series, Atlanta. Then, he left an impressionable mark with Sorry To Bother You. Eventually, Stanfield began making more appearances, specifically in movies like Uncut Gems, and Knives Out, Now, he’ll be hitting big screens once more with a forthcoming film titled The Photograph alongside Issa Rae, which will release on Valentines Day.
Recently, Stanfield went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to tell-all about the film. He also spoke about his experience of ditching acting school for modeling school, his experience working with Adam Sandler on Uncut Gems, and more.
Surprisingly, Stanfield also unveiled that he’d be interested in creating his version of the Joker, admiring Joaquin Phoenix‘s deliverance of the role last year. “I’d love to play the Joker. That’d be beautiful.” Stanfield continued. He also told Kimmel that he makes his home movies before saying, “That makes me go ‘Wait till they see me do it.’ Also, I make my Joker movies at home with my camera. All you have to do is dress up and make your own. Why not? I still had the makeup on so I was like, ‘Let me just keep going with it.'”
This statement follows Stanfield dressing up as the green-haired villain at the premiere of Joker. “I just like dressing up, and I also love the Joker, so there you go. You got both things.” he explains.
