Matt Damon is entering his Power Rangers era in a new film.
After starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Damon is now filming a new sci-fi movie from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, better known as The Daniels. The duo is best known for directing Everything Everywhere All at Once. The new movie is currently being filmed in Los Angeles under the working title Thasnagar.
Not much is known about the movie yet, but new set photos shared by TMZ offer a first look at Damon’s character. In the images, he is dressed in a bright red jumpsuit with armor and a helmet that make him look a little like a Power Ranger. Other characters can also be seen wearing similar outfits in blue, pink, green, and yellow.
The photos show Damon striking several superhero-style poses. In one, he appears to be getting ready to fly, while another shows him using what could be some kind of psychic power. He was also photographed smiling and wearing a black tank top while taking a break between scenes. You can see the rest here.
The upcoming film will be a major change from Damon’s role in The Odyssey, where he plays the famous Greek hero Odysseus. That movie has been a huge success and is now the biggest hit of Damon’s career.
Thasnagar is reportedly a sci-fi action comedy loosely inspired by Power Rangers. The story is also said to involve time travel, with scenes taking place in both the 1980s and the present day. Climate change is reportedly the movie’s main villain.
Damon will star alongside Charles Melton and Sandra Oh. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 19, 2027.
Before Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Daniels also directed movies such as Swiss Army Man and The Death of Dick Long. However, Everything Everywhere All at Once became their biggest success and helped make them two of Hollywood’s most talked-about filmmakers.
