His albums Thriller and Number Ones are now back in the top 10, while songs like “Billie Jean” returned to the Hot 100 chart’s top 20. Three other old Michael Jackson songs also made it back into the top 50.
Even though critics didn’t like the movie much, Michael has already made over $500 million worldwide. The movie focuses on a lot of Michael Jackson’s early life and career, while mostly avoiding the controversies around him. Its success is also boosting interest in his music again.

Last week, Thriller came back onto the Billboard 200 albums chart at No. 7, and “Billie Jean” returned to the Hot 100 at No. 38. At first, people thought this might only happen because the movie had just opened. But now, in the movie’s second week in theaters, Michael Jackson’s music is climbing even higher.
Thriller is now in the top five, Number Ones reached the top 10 for the first time, and The Essential Michael Jackson jumped from No. 158 to No. 88. Older albums like Off the Wall and Dangerous also returned to the Billboard 200 chart.
On the Hot 100 singles chart, Michael Jackson’s songs are also rising again. “Billie Jean” jumped from No. 38 to No. 17, while “Human Nature,” “Beat It,” and “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” all returned to the chart.
