Mike Flanagan is in talks to direct the upcoming Exorcist film after Believer director David Gordon Green stepped away from the project. Flanagan’s new role follows his latest work in the Stephen King adaption The Life of Chuck, which stars Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill. Because The Exorcist Believer didn’t do too well at the box office, Green decided to end his work with the series. Blumhouse and Universal acclaimed the rights to The Exorcist from Morgan Creek Entertainment, paying a whopping $400M in 2021.
The Exorcist: Deciever is a co-production between Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Entertainment. It’ll be produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson.
The Exorcist: Deceiver follows the 2023 supernatural horror film The Exorcist: Believer, which is based on William Peter Blatty‘s novels.
