It is with heavy hearts that we finally get to see the last on-screen posthumous footage of Naya Rivera. The footage of Naya Rivera is provided through her guest-appearance as a judge in a singular episode on the newest season of the Netflix original series known as Sugar Rush.
The third season of the Netflix series Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet is a baking competition in which four teams of bakers must go head-to-head to create a variety of dishes as fast as possible. The less time they utilize in each round the better, as the remaining time from each round is added to the following round’s overall time. With each round becoming increasingly difficult, this allows each team the necessary time to present the perfect desert for a chance to win a ten thousand dollar cash prize.
While her on-screen presence is small through brief exchanges of commentary with her fellow judges, Naya Rivera is as she has always been- a gracious, sincere, public figure who brings an upbeat energy into everything she does. Unlike most guest judges who often appear in these types of programs, Naya is consistently vocal about her opinions of the contestant’s dishes as she comes off just as passionate in this role as any other.
The airing of the episode on August 1st is timely in that it was released the same day that fans gathered to commemorate the actress at the location in which she died.
Rivera disappeared on July 8th after renting a boat at Lake Piru in Ventura County with her 4-year-old son and was discovered five days later on July 13th when her body was recovered from the water. It is believed that the boat was not anchored and began to drift away from the actress and her son while they were in the water. Fortunately, Rivera was able to assist her son back to safety and onto the boat before she ultimately drowned. Coincidently, she was recovered by search and rescue teams on the anniversary of her Glee co-star, Cory Monteith’s, dead.
The vigil, organized by a Naya Rivera fan page, showcased an array of balloons, flowers, candles, and works of arts. Rivera has now been laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles as of July 24th.
