Amy Poehler, notoriously known for her comedic timing as well as work in VoiceOver, has made her mark in the movie production world. Her newest film Moxie is currently trending at #4 on Netflix. Poehler shows viewers that she is a force to be reckoned with– with her amazing acting and directorial skills!
Hadley Robinson stars as 16-year-old Vivian, daughter of Lisa (Amy Poehler). Inspired by her mothers old memorabilia, Vivian decides to bring about change in her high school. The Patriarchal system of this 16 year olds society proves to be a major problem. Students are seen classifying girls as the ‘most bangable’, ‘best rack’, and there is a major problem with the double standards and the white-male literature in their Curriculum. Vivian insights and rebellion that changes the course of life at her school.
Vivian befriends Lucy (Alycia Pascual-Pena), who is her new classmate. She witnesses her white male classmate Mitchell (Patrick Schwarzenegger) harass Lucy and starts a modern day zine called ‘Moxie’. Of course there are a few bumps along the road, but through perseverance and justice, Vivian redeems herself and continues to work towards “smashing the patriarchy!”
