Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z are set to release a new song, “Entrepreneur”, at midnight. Produced by Williams and his Neptunes partner, Chad Hugo, this song is a special part of Pharrell’s newly curated TIME magazine cover package titled “The New American Revolution”. This issue includes conversations with Tyler the Creator, Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka, Geoffrey Canada, and more about the systematic inequality that Black people have faced throughout American history. It also envisions a Black Future in America where all people are created equal.
“The intention for a song was all about how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country to begin with,” Pharrell told TIME magazine. “Especially as someone of color, there’s a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages. How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire, when you’re starting at disadvantages with regards to health care, education, and representation?”
