According to Deadline, Lionsgate has officially gained the film rights to Ubisoft’s popular video game franchise called ‘Rabbids,’ which is a spinoff game from a long-running fantasy video game called Rayman. Currently, the studio is in the process of developing a hybrid live-action movie adaptation of Rabbids with director, Todd Strauss-Schulson.
The ‘Rabbids’ film will be produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman along with Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin. It’ll also be executively produced by Mandeville’s Alex Young, the film’s screenplay is written by Matt Senreich, Tom Sheppard and Zeb Wells. ‘Rabbids’ was previously revised by Todd Rosenberg, which was first developed at Sony. Lionsgate’s Meredith Wieck and Chelsea Kujawa will keep tabs on the project on behalf of the studio.
