Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already becoming one of Marvel’s biggest hits in theaters.
In the past, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had some movies not do so well, but Spider-Man continues to sling fans to cinemas worldwide. After the huge success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, Brand New Day is now off to an amazing start.
From Thursday previews alone, the movie reportedly made more than $70 million. That sets a new MCU record, beating Avengers: Endgame, which made $60 million from previews.
Before its release, movie critics expected the movie to make around $180 million to $190 million during its opening weekend. Some even believed it could earn $300 million because ticket sales were so strong.
The strong preview numbers show that fans couldn’t wait to see the movie. It is now expected to have one of the biggest opening weekends ever.
The opening weekend record is still held by Avengers: Endgame, which made $357.1 million in the U.S. Although Brand New Day has a chance to come close, beating that record won’t be easy.
The Odyssey, another movie starring Tom Holland, might also affect the film’s numbers at the box office. After all, it is still doing well in theaters and is keeping IMAX screens this weekend. That means Brand New Day won’t be shown in IMAX, which could potentially play a part in its success.
Even if it doesn’t break Endgame’s record, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already proving to be one of Marvel’s biggest movies in years.
