Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar have joined forces to create a new animated fantasy film titled Onward. In Onward both characters reside in a suburban fantasy world. The characters, identified as Ian and Barley are two teenage elf brothers. Throughout the film, Ian and Barley go on a quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. This comes about because of their father’s prized possession: a wizard staff. Their mother decides to hand it over and explains why it took so long, “Your dad wanted me to give you this at the age of 16,” she says.
The cast will feature the voices of actors, Chris Pratt (Avengers: Infinity War) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home), who’ll play the elf brothers, Barley Lightfoot and Ian Lightfoot. The film will also star Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) as Laurel Lightfoot, and Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) as the Manticore.
Additionally, Onward will be directed by Dan Scanlon (Monsters University) and produced by Kori Rae. Scanlon said that Onward was inspired by his own relationship with his brother. The film is set to release on March 6, 2020
