The sequel to MGM’s 2019 The Addams Family is still set to be released just in time for Halloween. In response to the new Delta Variant, the release has been set for a same-day dual-release to theaters and VOD. Originally, the film was going to be released in theaters only. Many production companies have had to make the tough decision of delaying their releases or changing to a dual-release system. At this time, MGM does not own any streaming services, so it is unclear which platform the film will be released to.
The sequel looks like it will take viewers on an adventurous family joy ride. The synopsis for the film reads:
Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?
The film is directed by Greg Tiernad and Conrad Vernon, the same directors of the 2019 film. The animated film features the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Javon Walton, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler, Bill Hader, and Wallace Shawn. This film will be an exciting treat for the little ones and those young at heart, right in time for the spooky season. Check out the official trailer below.
