Earlier this week, Netflix unveiled the trailer for their latest project Colin in Black and White set to detail the upbringing of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. While this project is more or less rooted in his will to to be a proponent for the Black Lives Matter movement, the lives of multi-million dollar athletes have always been intriguing to fans even without the socio-political nuances of Kaepernick’s story. Questions about how these individuals came to be so talented and what influenced their decisions to pursue their respective sport are among the utmost interest as they manage to amass large fortunes as a result while additionally inspiring future generations of athletes. Some athletes’ stories are more intriguing than others, whether it be because of their skill level or something unique about their rise, and one NBA players story is about to be turned into an Apple TV+ series: the teenage years of NBA superstar Kevin Durant are set to be explored in the upcoming series Swagger, with the official trailer for the project unveiled this week.
Selected second overall by the Seattle Supersonics in the 2007 NBA Draft, Kevin Durant has established himself as one of the best basketball players on earth at this point. Lauded for his ability to score at will from virtually anywhere on the court, Durant has been a terror for opposing teams and a delight for his most fervent fans. He is likely to go down as one of the NBA’s all-time greats, and now his journey to this point is set to be explored in the new Apple TV+ series Swagger. In the official trailer for the series, seen below, Isaiah Hill is set to star as a young KD as he is coming into his talents as a basketball player and is attempting to establish himself as one of the best prospects in the country. Alongside Hill is Shinelle Azoroh who is set to play his mother, with Durant’s mother having played a largely documented role in his life including basketball, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. who has been cast as his coach. Diehard Kevin Durant Fans and Apple TV+ subscribers can look forward too the premiere of Swagger when it debuts on the streaming service October 29th.
Having won an MVP in 2014 and back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018, Durant’s status in the NBA and around the world as a basketball player is indisputable. Few players, if any, can do the things KD does, and if they can, they probably can’t do them as well as he does. It is of no surprise that he inspires anybody, and now the path he took to get to where he is today is serving as the inspiration for a new series. Swagger is set to officially premiere on Apple TV+ later this month.
