At this year’s CinemaCon, director Barry Jenkins showed attendees the official trailer for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. The positive feedback was loud as the trailer received a round of applause. The trailer hasn’t been publicly released yet.
The new movie will explore Mufusa as a young cub as he searches for a home in Africa. Viewers will get a glimpse of Mufasa’s rise to King and how he ultimately earned respect in the big jungle. Moviegoers will also learn why Mufusa’s brother, Scar, developed animosity towards him. Scar is played by Monster actor Kevin Harrison Jr.
The original story of Lion King displays the importance of having faith and the courage to follow whats right. But nothing is better than learning about the Lion that started it all. We know the trials and tribulations Simba endured in this story, but Mufusa always seemed the alpha male many wouldn’t challenge. The respect and power Mufasa showed in recent Lion King films is that he is the protector of The Pride Lands.
This is a movie that is consistent with their visuals which is similar to the 2019 Lion King film. Despite Jon Favreau receiving backlash about the film’s realistic look, Lion King grossed 1.7 billion in the box office and is currently being mirrored for the next movie in the Lion King legacy.
