Marvel has eyed Shawn Levy to direct the next Avengers movie. The 21 Laps Entertainment founder is currently adding the final touches to Marvel’s upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Although Marvel is considering other people for the role, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the studio gave Levy the latest script for the fifth installment.
Initially, Marvel extended the directing opportunity to Levy in mid-March, but the filmmaker had to decline due to his busy schedule. He was juggling various duties on Deadpool & Wolverine, set to open on July 26, and the final season of Stranger Things. However, in a surprising twist, Levy has a stronger chance to accept the offer because the studio has been pushing the next Avengers movie for several months.
The fifth Avengers was subtitled Kang Dynasty, but Marvel changed it after dropping Jonathan Majors’ role as the film’s villain.
Levy is known for his work in Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Free Guy and The Adam Project, to name a few.
