Disney’s new TV spot for Moana 2 offers a glimpse of the animated movie’s new poster and a song called “We’re Back.” The song delves into Moana’s journey as she sails away from home, discovering new islands and finding herself. It also features fresh footage from the film and highlights Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui.
David Derrick Jr. will serve as the creative director for Moana 2. While details about the film’s casting are still limited, the highly anticipated sequel is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024.
In Moana 2, Moana travels into the dangerous, long-lost waters of Oceania after receiving an abrupt call from her ancestors.
“Three years later, Moana reunites with Maui for an exciting new journey alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers,” the official logline reads. “After getting an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must embark on a voyage to the distant seas of Oceania and navigate perilous, long-forgotten waters for an adventure unlike any she has encountered before.”
Moana stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, who will reprise their roles as Moana and Maui in the second installment. The first film, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, amassed over $600 million at the box office and earned two Oscar nominations, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Overall, Moana captivated audiences of all ages—children, adults, and seniors alike—with its stunning animation and adventurous storyline.
