James Gunn, the writer-director of Superman and co-head of DC Studios, revealed that he spent the weekend working on the trailer for the latest film featuring the Last Son of Krypton. This follows his previous comments about spoilers that’s been shared, having many fans curious. On Threads, a fan asked Gunn if they could get an update on what to expect, whether if the film was in progress or completed as of yet.
He responded, saying, “It’s not. I worked on it this weekend.” Additionally, Gunn shared some disappointing news about the Superman trailer, stating back in January that fans shouldn’t expect to see one in 2024, as filming won’t begin until March.
Gunn’s updates highlight the anticipation surrounding the film, but they also set realistic expectations for fans eager to see more. With filming scheduled to start in March, it seems that further developments on the trailer will be a while coming.
What’s next?!
In the meantime, fans are left speculating about the direction of the new Superman story and what surprises Gunn might have in store. As he continues to work on the trailer, excitement builds, but so does the wait for more concrete details and visuals from this highly anticipated project.
Moving forward in June Gunn reflected on Corenswet’s screen test for the Superman role alongside Brosnan, stating that their chemistry during the reading felt “like magic.” ⭐️
He added, “It’s been an incredible year working with two of the most exceptional and talented actors I’ve ever encountered. I’m eager for you all to see them on screen in just over a year.”
Gunn assured fans that Superman will not be a comedic film. He emphasized that it’s easier to experiment with lesser-known characters, like those from the Guardians of the Galaxy or Peacemaker, because their stories are not universally recognized. In contrast, Superman’s narrative is familiar to audiences worldwide. Gunn also made it clear that this film will have its own distinct tone, stating, “While I gained valuable insights from creating the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Superman will definitely have a different atmosphere and feel.”
