Young Thug has been released from prison on October 31 after being incarcerated for two years. In court, he expressed a desire to collaborate with rapper Gunna while navigating the legal terms of his probation, which lasted over 10 years due to his situation.
After the judge allowed Thugger out on time served, he shared a few tweets sometime later about what he intends to drop next.
In the early hours of November 3, he referenced rapper Lil Baby in a tweet, leading fans to speculate about a possible collaboration, as he included the Atlanta rhymer’s nickname. The post can be seen below.
Afterward, Lil Baby went on his Instagram Story, tagged Young Thug and wrote “Whatever wham say goes,” making his interest in joining musical forces clear.
During Young Thug’s months of incarceration, Gunna accepted a plea deal concerning the RICO case from the YSL sweep. While some fans have voiced concerns about this deal, several artists, including Lil Baby, have shared their thoughts on the situation.
Gunna was released from jail in December but soon faced unexpected backlash, with many labeling him a “snitch” for allegedly implicating Young Thug while dealing with new charges in his trial. Lil Baby voiced his disapproval, tweeting, “F the rats, turn this s*** off,” referencing their “Drip Too Hard” collaboration.
Lil Baby wasn’t alone in his criticism; in June, 4PF’s leader also took a shot at Gunna, saying, “P ninjas taking pleas / I know slime ain’t happy.”
Following backlash over his hit song “F*KUMEAN” and his interview with XXL, Gunna addressed questions about his current relationship with Young Thug.
“It’s the same. It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship,” he said. When asked about criticism from artists like Lil Baby, 21 Savage, and Lil Durk, who labeled him a “snitch” or “rat,” he responded, “None of those rappers are involved in the case. They don’t know what’s happening legally.”
Now that more details have surfaced, some suggest that Gunna might be owed an apology.
