Amanda Seyfried has given an exciting update on Mamma Mia! 3. The actress, who plays Sophie Sheridan in the romantic comedy film, spoke with Entertainment Tonight, which can be seen in this video on Reddit. During their discussion, she revealed that Mamma Mia! 3 was greenlit for production, where things would kick off, and a time frame for its release.
“Mamma Mia! 3 is happening,” she stated. “It’s going to happen in Greece, hopefully before 2038.”

Seyfried also shared that her ideal timeline for production would be in the summer of 2026, specifically because her schedule would be more open then.
“It’s going to have to take a lot of people’s schedules aligning and the story being right,” she continued.
Mamma Mia! takes inspiration from the 1999 stage musical of the same name. The first movie is led by amazing actors like Pierce Brosnan as Sam Carmichael, Colin Firth as Harry Bright, Stellan Skarsgård as Bill Anderson, Julie Walters as Rosie Mulligan, and Dominic Cooper as Sky Rymand.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again serves as a sequel and a prequel. Lily James plays a younger version of Donna in that movie, while Streep and Seyfried reprise their roles. Firth, Cooper, Skarsgård, Brosnan, and Walters also returned for Here We Go Again. The cast also includes Jeremy Irvine, Hugh Skinner, Andy García, Josh Dylan, Alexa Davies, and many others.

A release date for Mamma Mia! 3 has not been disclosed. The first Mamma Mia! movie is currently streaming on Max. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is available to rent or purchase on streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.
