Scoop of the Day
Tim Allen, a Golden Globe winner, has shared the latest news regarding Toy Story 5, the eagerly awaited addition to Pixar’s beloved animated series.
Since the release of the original Toy Story in 1995, where he first brought the character of Sheriff Woody, the charming cowboy, to life, Allen has continued to voice this iconic character, who remains one of Andy’s most cherished toys.
Toy Story’s Director
Toy Story 5 is set to be directed by Andrew Stanton, known for his work on Finding Nemo and Wall-E, who also penned the screenplay for this highly anticipated sequel. The film will once again bring together the iconic voices of franchise veterans Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim as Buzz Lightyear.
Previous Release
Fans last saw these beloved characters together in Toy Story 4, released in 2019, where Woody made the heartfelt choice to remain with Bo Peep rather than return home to his owner, Bonnie.
In a recent interview, Tim Allen provided some intriguing hints about the story arcs for Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 5, confirming that these longtime friends will reunite in this latest installment. He also hinted at a significant role for Jessie, something he has alluded to before.
“I can share that Jessie plays a central part in the film. Tom [Hanks] and I — or rather Woody and I — do find our way back to each other. Plus, there’s an incredible opening scene featuring Buzz Lightyear that I can mention, but beyond that, I can’t reveal much more,” Allen revealed.
Currently, the studio has not released an official summary or cast list for Toy Story 5. However, Tim Allen has previously assured fans that they can look forward to a “fantastic” storyline in this sequel.
“It’s an exceptionally clever narrative. Do you really want to make five of these films? I genuinely don’t think it’s just about the money,” he said.
“Of course, they want it to be successful, but that wasn’t their primary motivation. If they hadn’t crafted an outstanding script, they wouldn’t have proceeded with the project, nor would they have reached out to me and Tom [Hanks]. The story is truly inventive. It took quite some effort to bring it together, but about two hours in, I felt completely immersed in my role as Buzz.”
I feel incredibly fortunate to be the voice of Buzz Lightyear, honestly. It’s going to be an exciting experience! I believe we’re about a year away from the release. I’ve already reached the third act in the development process, and we’ll be working on that final act next.
Afterward, we’ll go back and refine it, and I anticipate recording my lines another five times. The story is truly fantastic, everyone.
