A live musical television event featuring Wicked is coming to NBC later this year, showcasing performances by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who will sing selections from both the beloved stage musical and its film adaptation.

As reported by Variety, the special is scheduled to air in advance of the release of Wicked: For Good—the sequel to last year’s Wicked film—set to premiere on November 21, 2025. The live broadcast will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be shown on NBC before becoming available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
Who Will Be Playing The Expecting Roles?!
The televised special will spotlight Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in their roles as Glinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp, respectively, with both stars taking the stage to perform iconic songs from the Wicked musical. In addition to their performances, other members of the film’s cast are expected to make appearances during the event. However, it remains uncertain which cast members will join and whether they will contribute additional musical numbers from Wicked.

Wicked was brought to life on screen under the direction of Jon M. Chu, with the screenplay penned by Winnie Holzman, who originally wrote the book for the stage musical. The film draws inspiration from Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel and the acclaimed Tony Award-winning Broadway production.

Leading the star-studded ensemble are Ariana as Glinda Upland and Cynthia as Elphaba Thropp. They are joined by a diverse and talented cast including Michelle Yeoh as the enigmatic Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as the charming Fiyero Tigelaar, and Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.
Additional cast members include Peter Dinklage portraying Doctor Dillamond, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, and Ethan Slater as Boq, among others.
