Scream 7 is getting a time jump from the franchise’s previous installments. While being interviewed by ComicBook.com, the movie’s writer Guy Busick stated that the upcoming horror flick will take place a few years after Scream VI and will jump ahead in time for a “really cool reason.” He didn’t give a specific time frame, but he did reveal that it’s “more than two years” after the last film. Scream 7 won’t take place in New York like the last one, but Busick didn’t disclose where the new setting is.
He also explained why this film is so laser-focused on Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. He said Scream is always meant to mirror what’s happening in horror movies and franchises, and this one is no different.

“We explained to Neve why this had to be a Sidney story,” Busick said. “She got it. We pitched it to Kevin Williamson, then to the studio, and everyone was on board.”
Scream 7 is directed by Williamson. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are producing the movie. Radio Silence will serve as the movie’s executive producer. The plot in Scream 7 will explore Sidney Prescott’s life, similar to Jamie Lee Curtis’ character in the 2018 Halloween film. David Arquette, Scott Foley, Mason Gooding, Jasmine Savoy Brown, and Matthew Lillard are reprising their respective roles. They’ll also be joined by new cast members like Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and more.
