Sony Pictures releases the trailer for Zombieland 2. Director Ruben Fleischer, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick return to continue the sequel after a 10 year gap.
Along with returning directors and writers, the Zombieland gang has it’s stars returning to their roles – Woody Harrelson as cowboy Tallahassee, Jessie Eisenberg as Columbus and Emma Stone as Wichita. Plus some new character additions that will be played by familiar faces from shows and movies of 2018-19.
The Zombieland films started their adventure in 2009, theming an apocalyptic world. Four strangers come across each other paths during a zombie apocalypse, while all of them have a survival of the fittest mentality they see each other as rivals, eventually they develop a bond that sticks them together during their travel until they reach they’re destinations.
The action, comedy, horror return story came together by process of alot of brain power as director Ruben Fleisher admitted the creative team “couldn’t figure out the right story to tell.”
Here’s what Ruben told Entertainment Weekly concerning the film,
“I think we were all excited to do other stuff. But, the other thing is, we just couldn’t figure out the right story to tell. It took a minute to get a story that we all felt was worthy, to come back to Zombieland for. We all have so much love for the original. So, we held ourselves to a really high standard, as far as making sure that, if we were going to make a sequel, that it be at least as good, if not better, than the original. And that ultimately all comes down to the script,” he said, adding that “sometimes it does take time to get that right.”
Zombieland: Double Tap is scheduled to release October 18, 2019
