Star Wars’ holiday special documentary, A Disturbance in the Force, has set out an official release date. According to Variety, the 1978 holiday film will be available on demand and Blu-Ray on Dec. 5. The Star Wars holiday special was created after the original movie became a box office hit in 1977. It ended up airing on CBS and amassed over 13 million viewers. However, the two-hour clip came with mixed reviews, leaving no room for a reappearance at the time.
According to the synopsis,
“This documentary dives into the mystery of how Star Wars happened and why, 45 years later, it has become, much to the chagrin of George Lucas, the ultimate cult classic among Star Wars fans.”
The documentary features interviews with Seth Green, Kevin Smith, Patton Oswalt, Paul Scheer, Weird Al Yankovic, Donny Osmond, Bruce Vilanch, and many more.
A Disturbance in the Force first premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
