ABC is celebrating Rodgers & Hammerstein’s spin on Cinderella in the best way. Because the movie’s 25th anniversary is around the corner, ABC has decided to air the cast members reuniting on 20/20. In honor of Disney Princess Week, the television network will also play the film.
Cinderella: The Reunion and A Special Edition of 20/20 will debut on ABC Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 8 PM ET/PT. The latter will run from 9-11 PM EST/PT. For those without cable, it will stream the next day on Hulu. The reunion will feature Brandy, Whoopi Goldberg, Paolo Montalban, Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Jason Alexander, and Veanne Cox.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is significant for many reasons. But the main highlight was having Brandy and Whitney Houston as the main leads. Before there was Princess Tiana, America’s first Black princess was shown in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s film.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella aired initially worldwide in 1957. The movie ended up riling in 107 million viewers.
