An exclusive featurette video for Alien: Romulus reveals new footage from the horror movie helmed by Fede Álvarez. The video not only gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at Alien: Romulus but also features a cameo from Fede Álvarez, who explains how they made the movie “gritty and grounded.” He also broke down how they “built every creature for real,” coining Alien: Romulus as a “pure horror film.”
Fede Álvarez is coming back to the Alien installment as a director for the fourth time.
According to the movie’s summary, a group of space expeditionists face what is labeled as “the most terrifying life form in the universe” while scavenging through a secluded space station. The film is set between the events of 1979’s Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, and 1986’s Aliens, directed by James Cameron.
On July 12, Fandago also went on X and revealed the popcorn buckets for Alien: Romulus. Although the camera doesn’t get a full view of the bucket, the visual shows a Facehugger figure attached to its outside.
Alien: Romulus will star Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. The film is produced by Alien and Prometheus director/creator Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill. It’ll hit theaters on August 16.
