Fans of The Amazing Spider-Man shouldn’t get their hopes up about Andrew Garfield returning to the Spider-Man realm in MCU’s Spider-Man 4. The actor has officially confirmed during an interview that he won’t be playing the spider-slinging superhero anytime soon.
While conversing with GQ UK, the Oscar nominee put rumors about starring in the new movie to rest.
“I’m gonna disappoint you,” he said regarding the speculation about the returning cast. “Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”

Although Garfield doesn’t have any involvement in Spider-Man 4, he did say he’s pretty open to coming back as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” he told Esquire in October. “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
