Lionsgate held a screening event for their newest coming-of-age film, Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret.
Since it takes from Judy Blume‘s book of the same name, the company found it fitting to host the festivity at Blume and her husband, George Cooper‘s co-founded theatre, Tropic Cinema. The building is categorized as an “iconic retro-style theater.”
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret stars Abby Ryder Fortson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Benny Safdie. It also stars Elle Graham, Amari Price, Katherine Kupferer, Isol Young, Zackary Brooks, Simms May, JeCobi Swain, Echo Kellum, Landon Baxter, Kate MacCluggage, and Aidan Wojtak-Hissong.
Judy Blume, Rachel McAdams, Abby Ryder Fortson, Kelly Fremon Craig, James L. Brooks, Julie Ansell, and Amy Lorraine Brooks made a special appearance during the screening. Fans from all over were ultimately happy with the movie’s outcome and seeing the cast one on one.
The synopsis states:
“In Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation, 11-year-old Margaret is uprooted from her life in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends in a new school.
She relies on her mother, Barbara, who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and her adoring grandmother, Sylvia, who isn’t happy they moved away and likes to remind them every chance she gets.“
