Ariana Grande is here shake the room (the highest room in all of the land to be exact)! Nearly a week after hinting towards the release of a new album this month, the “thank u next” singer dropped the first surprise.
“Positions,” which debuted on Friday (Oct. 23), is packed with the pop superstar’s signature soaring harmonies and marks her first solo release since her 2019 album, thank u, next. Since then, she has delivered a series of hit records and collaborations, including “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga, “Stuck with U” with Justin Bieber and “boyfriend” with Social House.
In the clip — directed by Dave Meyers, whom Grande previously worked with on the “No Tears Left to Cry,” “The Light Is Coming” and “God Is a Woman” videos — Grande assumes the role of commander and chief of our nation as she sings about switching positions.
“Switching the positions for you/ Cooking in the kitchen and I’m in the bedroom/ I’m in the Olympics way I’m jumping through hoops/ Know my love infinite nothing I wouldn’t do/ That I won’t do, switching for,” she croons.
In summary the visual proves how dynamic women can be. From posing and pouting as the leader of the free world — and looking fierce while doing it — to switching it up and ruling in the kitchen and bedroom too, Grande shows that we truly can do it all.
